Supported research projects

UKCNRC provides critical support to UK-based clinical studies of childhood neurological conditions. Some of our supported studies and the services we have provided are listed below.

Paediatric UK Demyelinating Disease Longitudinal Study (PUDDLS - funded by the Multiple Sclerosis Society).

Investigators: Dr Evangeline Wassmer and Dr Michael Absoud, Birmingham Children’s Hospital.

Project details: UKCNRC has advised on the study protocol, recruited collaborating centres and helped with local NHS administrative authorisations.

Multinational European Trial for Children with the Opsoclonus Myoclonus Syndrome/Dancing Eye Syndrome.

Investigator: Dr Mike Pike, John Radcliffe Hospital, Oxford.

Project details: UKCNRC provided hands-on support with writing the UK study protocol, patient information leaflet and other essential documents, and prepared and submitted a successful grant application on behalf of the study team.  

Genetics of Cortical Malformations

Investigators: Dr Andrew Fry & Dr Daniela Pilz, Cardiff University.

Investigator: Professor Fenella Kirkham, Institute of Child Health, University College London.

Investigator: Dr Christos Zipitis, Wrightington, Wigan and Leigh NHS Foundation Trust.

Project details: UKCNRC provides networking with the PUDDLS Study and essential contributions to the study design, planning and funding. 

We offer support and advice to prospective researchers along the route from project concept and planning, through regulatory and funding applications, to management, data analysis  and publishable outcomes.
